We’ve been in Adelaide for a week now so we thought we’d give you a quick update. After a few days of technical gremlins the show is up and running and going great. We’ve been doing loads of radio interviews on various national and local stations. Have a listen to us on Nova FM here.
We also got a lovely first review in the Adelaide Advertiser:
“This is musical comedy at its naughtiest but also its best. Leaving previous musical comedy acts in their wake, Dead Cat Bounce demonstrate no topic is out of bounds, singing about ejaculation, good touches and bad touches, picking up in a nightclub and their self-styled dance move The Kick. But it’s not as lewd as it seems. It’s downright clever, with these four Irish lads bringing an edge to musical comedy and taking the audience along with them. Their repertoire is faultless – from stadium rock numbers to boy band crooning and an R&B slowjam, it seems there’s nothing these charming musicians can’t do. If there’s any criticism to be had, the foursome’s onstage banter could be tightened up and, they could address the crowd less furtively. Boys, you’re awesome, rock out.” 4.5 / 5
That’s pretty much it for now. We’ll be doing loads of late shows and other bits and pieces over the next couple of weeks, so we’ll keep you posted.
Cheers.

Well we’ve made it – currently in Adelaide worrying about the heat (33c today) and getting into the swing of things. Damo is on a strict 10min interval suncream regime, Shane is cultivating an already impressive handlebar tan line, Jim has cut his shoes into cowboy boot shaped sandals and Mick is largely avoiding the whole problem by trying to find an old man’s pub to replace the Lord Edward.
The photo above is outside our venue, Cinema Nova, where they’ve thoughtfully put up a banner with our name in massive letters. It’s still a fully working cinema though – Sherlock Holmes was about to start when we went in for a look earlier and A Prophet starts there tomorrow… we may get some very confused audience members during the week.
Did a performance at the Gluttony Food Festival today and are up early to do Weekend Sunrise in the morning (hopefully with a nice Eamon Holmes type presenter) then back to Gluttony tomorrow before opening on Tuesday. We’re gonna stick up as many pictures and that as we can grab while here so check back to see how we’re getting on. Anybody who’s been to Adelaide before have any recommendations we should check out?

In a couple of weeks we’re heading off on the longest and furthest-afield leg of our very sporadic world tour: three months in Australia. Needless to say, we’re terrified. Most things there will properly kill you.
Before we go, we’re having one very special show, Dead Cat Bounce… You’re Welcome For The Music, on Sunday 7th February in the Twisted Pepper on Middle Abbey Street. This will be our last Irish show until the Kilkenny Cat Laughs, and the only Dublin preview of the Australian touring show we’ve been working towards for months and months now.
We want it to be a party, so it’ll be immediately followed by Dead Cat Bounce… Bootlegs – an extended and improved version of our covers/mashup/party/singalong/rockout/thingie, which had its first outing at Sexy Christmas.
We’re joined by a special guest MC on the night, the always wonderful Andrew Stanley. Doors are at 8pm. Tickets €10 from http://www.bodytonicmusic.com or a limited amount will be available in the Twisted Pepper on the night. Come on down so we can say goodbye (for now), thanks for the support and You’re Welcome For The Music.
Cheers,
DCB.
